The user paid a record $ 2.6 million to process an Ethereum transaction worth $ 134
$ 2.6 million – exactly this amount cost the sender the processing of an Ethereum transaction made today at 12:47 Moscow time. EthHub co-founder Anthony Sassano was the first to notice her.
As follows from the data of the Etherscan blockchain observer, the amount of funds transferred in the transaction was only 0.55 ETH ($ 134), the commission was 10 668 ETH.
The sender’s wallet is quite active and transmits several transactions per minute. At the time of publication, the balance on it is 46,269 ETH or over $ 11 million. The recipient’s wallet is used once every several weeks or months and immediately transfers all received funds to one of the well-known wallets of the Bithumb exchange.
Perhaps we are talking about another mistake of the user who confused the fields for entering the amount and commission, but its scale makes this case unique. Also in the community there are versions about money laundering through the mining pool. At the same time, the regularity of sending transactions indicates that the process is automated, although this is not the address of a smart contract. The first transactions on this wallet were recorded only on June 7.
If this is still a mistake, the sender’s luck has not completely left today. The block with the ill-fated transaction was added by the Sparkpool mining pool. It is this pool in Last year mined a block with a commission of 2,100 ETH, after which he announced the search for the sender, and having found him, agreed to split the commission with him in half. By the time of publication, representatives of the pool have not yet reacted to the new catch.
UPD: Sparkpool said it has frozen funds received as a commission and is waiting for the sender to contact him.
